In the linked topic, I put together a step-by-step walkthrough through installing the mgag module for Ubuntu or Ubuntu-based distros like Mint.
CLI is now low resolution but fast and responsive.
Then I copied only the corresponding package content from How does one do that? Want to add to the discussion? For the moment the servers are back in their cardboard boxes but I will try this after the weekend and report back here. I installed the mga driver as it wasn’t installed before for some reason and set the driver to be mga in the conf file rather than vesa, and well I’ve actually made some progress.
I downloaded the sources and headers for the current kernel, compiled and installed the module, and then added it in the initramfs image. The workaround works fine but windows control is not smooth as with a standard 2-D video card. In the end I installed Post as a ubunfu Name. I managed to resolve it by upgrading to 4. I am having exactly the same issue as this on two brand new Dell PowerEdge R which I am setting up for the first time.

Then, after reboot, it worked. In this bug report conversationone of the correspondents suggests using the vesa driver instead of a more advanced but no longer supported driver to get x I didn’t try with higher resolution yet.
Last edited by ardvark71; Apr 17th at I think I’ll settle for using SSH anyway. I’m running into a bit of a brick wall getting x resolution installed on one of ubuntj computers. Sign g20e using Email and Password. This bug affects 35 people.

Screen 0 is not DRI2 capable [ 4. I did an online chat with Dell to see if they new anything about this and they could not help.

What I did was first of all removing all unecessary xorg driver packages, xorg modules which has nothing to do with g20e configuration anyway.
